It's not so much that it's manufactured, but that it has become so over commercialized. In the restaurant industry, it is the king of all hell-nights. People expect/demand everything to be perfect, completely disregarding the fact that ANY reputable establishment is over-booked, understaffed and crammed full of extra tables. Where I work, we toss all the 4-tops into the alley for the night, and rent smaller tables just to pack them in even more. Why? $$$$$$$$$. THat is all.

A day to celebrate love is a grand idea, but people shouldn't feel pressured to say it with jewellry and upscale dinners. What's wrong with a chocolate ****, or a bathtub full of jello?

I don't do it on stage in front of men throwing money at me. It's more of a fitness thing.

The only fail I witnessed was the goddamn restaurant I work for! Overbooked, and completely untrained staff taking full sections on the BUSIEST night we have ever had in the last 3 years! 190 guests served in an 80 seat restaurant. Nice.
I actually threw a mini-tantrum during my shift, which is totally out of character for me, LOL! And the poor new girl nearly walked out on us!
Customers were actually very polite and reasonable during all this.
Unfortunately, I was too busy to take notice of any glitter-titties or VPL's. One of the waitresses was sporting quite a muffin-top though, LOL!

Valentines Day is more of a tradition than holiday and I rather like traditions.  I started a new tradition this year by getting the lady crazy enough to put up with me a gold dipped rose as opposed to a bouquet. I figure we will build a bouquet by getting a different colored rose every year. Plus they guarantee  next day shipping right up until the 14th.  Actually kind of cool.
